The World Travel & Tourism Council, WTTC, has welcomed the outcome of the latest meeting of EU Tourism Ministers as they seek to find ways to support and protect the Travel and Tourism sector. This has been noticeable across Europe. Reigniting Travel & Tourism across Europe is considered vital to power the EU’s economic recovery.
“We are deeply encouraged that Ministers representing key tourism markets in Europe recognize that a European-wide coordinated approach is critical to preserve the freedom of movement between all Member States,” said Gloria Guevara, President & CEO. “All this while protecting public health.”

The WTTC has applauded the call for establishing standardized criteria for risk areas and coordinated measures in the control of the departure and arrival of travelers, providing mutually recognized tests, with the overall aim to avoid indiscriminate measures such as quarantines and travel restrictions.
During the meeting, Tourism Ministers agreed to conclude negotiations and coordinate a response to allow free movement. This has been seen as an encouraging step towards recovery.
The WTTC has praised all the EU Tourism Ministers involved in this meeting for their support in this. The WTTC hopes that more governments will consider a similar approach to speed up the recovery of the Travel and Tourism Sector.
