If you like the city of Brugge, you will like Ghent too. Ghent is a city and a municipality in the Flemish Region of Belgium. It is famous for its canals, University, port, and its long history. Exploring Ghent is fascinating because all the buildings have a story to tell. The more you visit, the more you will understand the soul of the city. Ghent can be explored on foot, by bicycle, and also by boat.
The city looks old, but when you walk through it you will meet plenty of young people – a lot of them are University students. During the summer you can enjoy and join the biggest festival in Ghent called “The Gentse Feesten” or “Ghent Festival”; it is a cultural festival related to theatre, music, and exhibition.
The most beautiful places to visit are the museum Gravensteen, Saint Bravo’s Cathedral, Het Belfort van Gent, Saint Nicholas Church, Design museum, Saint Michael’s Church, Graslei, Korenmarkt, and… just walking through Ghent streets! The sightseeing tour of Ghent by night is also a nice and romantic experience.
The best way to visit this beautiful city is to stay more than one day. As an introduction, here are some pictures from Ghent… Hope you will like it!
